Registered with the British Register of Complementary Practitioners, Alison first became interested in medicine in 1998 whilst studying the Japanese martial art Ninpo Tai Jutsu. She followed this by learning a Japanese medical system called Amatsu.
Her growing interest led her to study Acupuncture and Moxibustion at the Chinese Academy of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Beijing. Under the guidance of Professor Zhao she furthered her studies in Tui Na, Advanced Tui Na, Pediatric Tui Na and Chinese Herbal Medicine, and holds a degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine.
In 1999 she began treating clients at the Northern Institute of Oriental Medicine in Lytham St. Annes, moving to Chelmsford in 2001 to set up the Plumb Blossom Clinic with her husband Rob.
Alison has taught Acupuncture and Tui Na for the Academy of Oriental Medicine since 2000, teaching Traditional Chinese Medicine to degree level, and creating comprehensive, supporting course notes and workbooks. She is also a co-founder of the training center for the combined energy, body and emotional systems of Tisarana Technique, and teaches short workshops and courses.
Her interest in gynecology, obstetrics and fertility has meant the Plumb Blossom Clinic is a now a center for aiding pre-conception and assisted conception couples.
